On March 1, 2012, nearly 100 lawyers, judges, Board members, staff and other community friends of Bay Area Legal Services went “Cruisin’ for Justice” aboard the Carnival Paradise. Departing the Port of Tampa bound for Cozumel, Mexico, this first-time fundraising cruise raised thousands of dollars for Bay Area. Attendees were treated to a private welcome reception, which served as an opportunity to network and collaborate for the benefit of Bay Area. The next day, a series of Continuing Legal Education courses were offered in conjunction with the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Entitled “Ethics at Sea,” the featured speakers included prominent Tampa attorneys Wm. Reece Smith, Richard A. Gilbert and Joanna Garcia. The remainder of the four-day cruise provided relaxation and fun through a multitude of on-board activities and a day spent in beautiful Cozumel. A wonderful time was truly had by all on this inaugural cruise for justice!
